Man charged after police vehicle rammed – Kingswood

A man will face court today charged with traffic offences after allegedly ramming a police vehicle in Sydney’s west overnight.

About 3.25am (Monday 13 November 2023), officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were patrolling Kingswood when they attempted to stop a white tabletop truck on Great Western Highway, for a random breath test.

The driver – a 37-year-old man – pulled over and as the officer got out of his vehicle, allegedly reversed, colliding with the front of the police vehicle.

The officer was forced to move out of the way and was not injured.

The truck was found abandoned on Cosgrove Crescent and a perimeter was established. Following a foot pursuit, the driver was arrested at a nearby park.

He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc, drive while licence cancelled, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/ manner dangerous, and negligent driving.

The man was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Monday 13 November 2023).
