Man dies after being struck by car in Beaconsfield

A man has died in hospital following a collision in Beaconsfield earlier this week.

It is alleged the male pedestrian was crossing at a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Brunt Road and Princes Highway when he was hit by a car about 6.45am on Monday, 20 June.

The pedestrian, a 59-year-old Beaconsfield man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and has since sadly died.

The driver stopped at the scene.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives charged a 26-year-old Beaconsfield man with dangerous driving causing serious injury.

He’s been released on bail.

It is expected his charges will be upgraded to dangerous driving causing death.

He will appear in court at a later date.
