Man further charged with 42 child sexual offences

Northam Detectives have further charged a 67-year-old man with an additional 42 child sexual offences as part of their ongoing investigation into child abuse allegations.

The man was originally charged by Northam Detectives for eight offences involving three victims on 14 March 2023 and remains remanded in custody.

On 17 April 2023 Northam Detectives charged the man with a further eight offences and on 12 May 2023 they charged him with an additional 34 offences. These offences relate to seven new victims.

It is alleged between 2011 and 2021, the man committed the new 42 offences against the victims (boys and girls) who were aged between 6 and 14 years old at the time of the first offence. It will be alleged the man befriended the victims as they walked past his Cunderdin home, telling them he was a gardener at the school. He allegedly used grooming behaviours on some of the victims to get them to bring other younger children to his home.

The 67-year-old man who is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, 30 June 2023 on the additional charges of:-

• 12 counts of Indecently Deals with a Child over 13 under 16 years;

• 11 counts of Sexual Penetration of a Child under 13 years;

• 5 counts of Child under 16: Persistent Sexual Conduct With;

• 4 counts of (Att) Sexually Penetrated a Child of or over 13 and under 16;

• 3 counts of Procured or Encouraged a Child to Engage in Sexual Behaviour;

• 3 counts of Procured, Encouraged or Incited a Child under 13 years to do an Indecent Act;

• 2 counts Indecently Dealing with a Child of or over 16 under his / her care;

• 1 count of Sexually Penetrated a Child over 16 years under their care; and

• 1 count of Attempted to Procure, Encourage or Incite a Child under 13 years to do an Indecent Act.
