Man in court after boy-scout assaulted- Mona Vale, NSW

Police have charged a man for the alleged assault of a boy-scout was allegedly assaulted at Mona Vale on New Year’s Eve and are now appealing for information to locate a second offender.

Just before 10pm on Tuesday 31 December 2020, a group of scouts got off a bus in Pittwater Road, near Village Park. Two other males also disembarked from the same bus and approached the group.

The men allegedly threatened the group before one of the men punched a 16-year-old boy to the face causing him to fall to the ground.

The boy was further kicked while on the ground. As the injured boy and his friends fled the scene the men allegedly stole a speaker which had fallen from a backpack.

An investigation commenced by police attached to Northern Beached Police Area Command and about 6am today (Thursday 19 March 2020), a 19-year-old man was arrested in a house in Violet Street Balgowlah.

He was taken to Manly Police Station and charged with aggravated robbery and intimidation.

He was refused bail and appeared in Manly Local Court today (Thursday 19 March 2020). He was not granted bail and is due to re-appear at Manly Local Court on Thursday 14 May 2020.

Police are now seeking the help of the public to identify a second man who may be able to assist with inquiries into this incident.

The man depicted in the image is described as being Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, 18-20 old, short dark hair with a slim build. He has a tattoo on his left forearm.
