Man injured after shooting at Shannons Flat

An investigation is underway after a man was injured following a shooting at a home in the state’s south.

About 9.45pm Monday (28 August 2023), officers from Monaro Police District were told that a 30-year-old man – suffering a gunshot wound to his leg – was being driven to Cooma Hospital by a friend.

About 10.10pm police located both men in an Isuzu utility on the Monaro Highway, Cooma. The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established at a home on Jones Plain Road, Shannon Flats, which was examined by specialist police.

Local detectives have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and inquiries are continuing.
