A man has been charged with 25 traffic related offences after he was allegedly involved in multiple hit-and-run crashes across Sydney earlier this month.
At 8.20am, Sunday 19 July 2020, Brisbane Water Highway Patrol stopped a grey Holden Equinox on the M1 at Bar Point and the driver was issued a traffic infringement notice for speeding more than 45km/h. The driver’s licence was suspended on the spot.
Police will allege in court that shortly afterwards the same man driving the Holden Equinox was involved in two separate incidents on the Pacific Highway at Lindfield where cyclists were hit and the driver failed to stop.
Police further allege the same vehicle collided with a Mercedes C220 at Woolloomooloo, a Land Rover Sport at Kensington, and a WRX at Kensington. The Holden Equinox allegedly drove from each incident without exchanging details.
At 10am, a 36-year-old man was cycling west along Perry Street at Matraville when he was allegedly hit from behind by the Holden Equinox, knocking him off his bike and also failed to stop.
It is further alleged a Forester was struck by the Holden Equinox along Bridge Road at Glebe and the last linked incident was on Epping Road, Lane Cove where it is alleged the SUV swerved and hit a Subaru Outback.
About 8.10am Saturday 20 July 2020 police attended a petrol station on Castlereagh Road, Penrith and arrested a 35-year-old man. He was taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment.
The man was released from hospital about 2.30pm yesterday (Monday 27 July 2020) into police custody and taken to Penrith Police Station.
He has been charged with;
- predatory driving,
- drive while suspended,
- drive recklessly/furiously/manner dangerous (x9),
- fail to stop and assist after impact causing injury (x5),
- not give particulars to injured person (x4), and
- not give particulars to other driver (x5).
He was refused bail and will appear in Penrith Local Court today (Tuesday 28 July 2020).
