Police arrested a 35-year-old man who narrowly avoided side-swiping a police car at high speeds in Irymple early this morning.
Patrolling uniform members noticed a Holden sedan parked in the car park of a closed supermarket on Fifteenth Street about 3.40am.
They thought it looked a bit suspicious so attempted to intercept the vehicle who then fled, reaching alleged speeds of up to 190km/h, causing officers to lose sight of him.
After looking up vehicle’s registration details, they began making their way to the owner’s Mildura address.
On the way there, they again came across the vehicle again who lost control while trying to drive off and nearly crashed into the side of the police car at 150km/h.
Given the driver’s dangerous behaviour, police have elected to continue to the address of the registered owner where they found it parked outside.
A quick check of CCTV footage confirmed he was the driver and he was taken into custody.
He will now be interviewed in relation to dangerous driving offences.
