Two bays. Four days. 100ks. Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh will swap chocolate eggs for saltwater this Easter as he prepares to paddle around the Mornington Peninsula to raise funds for emergency services.
Cr Marsh is passionate about protecting the Mornington Peninsula’s beautiful coastline and will take this opportunity also to shine a light on the much-needed investment to preserve our fantastic beaches and maintain our coastal infrastructure (piers, jetties, ramps etc.).
The challenge will take four days, starting in Mount Eliza on 15 April (Good Friday) and finishing in Somerville on 18 April (Easter Monday). On day one, Cr Marsh will paddle from the Canadian Bay Yacht Club to McCrae Yacht Club, where there will be a fundraiser barbeque. Day two covers the stretch from McCrae to Portsea Pier, where there will be a celebration to mark the end of the Port Phillip Bay leg. Then it’s over to Western Port for day three, starting at Flinders Pier and finishing for the day at Crib Point, where there will be a fundraiser barbeque. The last day of the challenge, Easter Monday, will see Cr Marsh paddle from Crib Point to Somerville and finish up with a big celebration at Yaringa Boat Harbour, our Platinum sponsor.
The Mayoral Charity Paddle will be raising money directly for emergency services, including SES and the Coast Guard. It also presents an opportunity for local clubs and groups to raise funds along the route.
Sponsorships are available for business, ranging from $1,000 for bronze sponsorship to $10,000 for platinum sponsorship.
