Wheatbelt Detectives and Northam Police are investigating a series of suspicious bushfires that occurred along a 5km stretch of Great Eastern Highway in Meenaar (east of Northam) on Wednesday, 15 January 2020.
It is believed the fires started around 8.20pm near Watson Road, and continued near Snook Road and approximately 1km east of Snook Road. The fires were extinguished by Department of Fire and Emergency Services
Any members of the public who were driving in the vicinity of Great Eastern Highway, Watson Road and Snook Road between 8pm and 9pm, who have dash-cam vision of the area is asked to come forward. Vision can be uploaded to:-
Anyone with information regarding these fires or who saw any suspicious people, or vehicles, in the vicinity of the fire, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au and callers may remain anonymous if they wish.
Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
