A man has been charged with drink driving after he crashed his car into a building in Sydney’s CBD today.
About 3.25pm (Monday 6 January 2020), officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attended the corner of Market and Castlereagh streets after reports a Ferrari had mounted the footpath and crashed into a shop.
The driver of the vehicle, a man aged 41, was arrested and subjected to a roadside breath test that allegedly returned a positive result.
He was taken to Day Street Police Station and a subsequent test allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.107.
He was charged with mid-range PCA, drive whilst suspended and drive in a manner dangerous.
A female pedestrian, aged in her 60s, sustained minor injuries to her hip when she ran from the path of the Ferrari. She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.
A female passenger inside the Ferrari was not injured.
The man is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 5 February 2020.
There were minor traffic delays along Elizabeth Street and Market Street whilst the Ferrari was towed from the scene.
The shop window sustained minor damage.
