Mooroolbark and Lilydale stations canopy installation

Vic Department of Transport

The new Mooroolbark and Lilydale stations are taking shape, with the placing of the station shelter canopies on the platforms well underway.

About 70% of the platforms will be sheltered by the canopies, allowing passengers to travel comfortably in all weather conditions.

The new stations will include modern facilities including lifts, better disability access, lighting and CCTV. The station precincts are also environmentally friendly, producing 45% less carbon and using 70% less water.

The 2 stations are being built as part of our construction blitz on the Lilydale line. On Wednesday 17 November, both level crossings at Manchester Road and Maroondah Highway will be gone, and the 2 new stations will open to passengers.

Parking at Mooroolbark will also be doubled to 900 when the new multi-level carpark is complete in 2022.

Finishing works on the stations will continue into 2022, including landscaping, completing car parks and opening ‘kiss and ride’ zones.
