More car parking spaces for North West Regional Hospital

Guy Barnett, Minister for Health

Works to deliver an additional 24 car parking spaces at the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie are nearing completion, and with asphalting and line marking scheduled for coming days.

Minister for Health, Guy Barnett, said the carpark will open as soon as possible after the line-marking is complete.

“We know how important it is for patients and visitors to be able to access the hospital in a timely and convenient manner,” Minister Barnett said.

“Our Government is also investigating whether additional parking spaces can be delivered in existing parking areas.”

Contractors will complete final works, such as lighting, over the next couple of weeks, with some minor disruptions expected during this period.

Minister Barnett said parking and accessibility, particularly for pregnant women and patients with limited mobility, at North West Regional Hospital has been identified as a priority.

“Our Government is also delivering additional car parking spaces to the west of the multi-storey car park by extending the ground level area,” Minister Barnett said.

The Draft North West Hospitals Masterplan, which will create a long-term strategic vision for hospital infrastructure in the north west, was released in April 2023 and includes a substantial allocation to car parking across the site.

Minister Barnett said future plans for parking improvements at the North West Regional Hospital will be confirmed in the Final North West Hospitals Masterplan which is due for release later this year.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government is delivering on our long-term plan to improve access to healthcare services across the State.”
