The Carroll Labor Government is making sure families in Melbourne’s north get the care they need – with the new four-storey Ambulatory Care Centre at the Northern Hospital now complete.
Premier Carroll today announced the new centre will open its doors to patients from tomorrow.
The opening marks the completion of the first stage of Labor’s massive $813 million Northern Hospital redevelopment.
The centre is a dedicated building that will deliver a range of specialist outpatient services, including allied health, pathology, respiratory medicine and dialysis.
It will support our hardworking healthcare workers to deliver high quality care to patients that don’t need to stay overnight.
With the new centre complete, work can now start on the next stage – a bigger, better emergency department and a new inpatient tower.
On track for completion in 2029, the expansion will support an additional 30,000 emergency patients each year and includes:
- 200 treatment spaces including extra inpatient beds
- a dedicated paediatric zone
- a specialised mental health and alcohol and other drugs hub
- an emergency observation unit.
Labor is investing in Victoria’s world-class public health system, so Victorians get care faster, all year round.
We’ve grown our workforce by 50 per cent, built 12 new hospitals and delivered new services like the Virtual ED.
But under a One Nation Liberal Coalition, it’s all at risk.
You cannot implement Jess Wilson’s $40 billion cuts plan without cutting the frontline care Victorians rely on.
They will cut funding, privatise hospitals, slash nursing jobs and go to war with paramedics.
