We want more Tasmanians to be able to start their careers in our health system, and we know how important it is to provide opportunities for new graduates.
This is why the Government is employing record numbers of graduate nurses as part of our strong plan for health, delivering our election commitment to boost the Transition to Practice Program with more graduate nurses in every region.
It is always inspiring and exciting to see new graduate health professionals working in our health system, and the strong relationships between the Royal Hobart and Hobart Private hospitals allow our graduate nurses to work closely and learn together.
I am delighted this month Healthscope has 11 registered and enrolled nurses, and two midwifery graduates starting their careers at the Hobart Private Hospital under their own Transition to Practice Program.
The next round of nurses under the Tasmanian Health Service Transition to Practice program will be commencing from next month.
Transition to Practice placements are offered for nurses with less than six months full-time experience and provide additional support, tailored to the transition to their new role.
The program includes experiences available across a wide range of practice settings, including metropolitan and rural hospitals, community and mental health settings.
