- 18 new public homes completed in Pimpama
- Tenants to begin moving in within comings weeks
- Part of government’s big housing build, helping to deliver 14,100 homes
Eighteen families and individuals will have a new place to call home with works complete on a new public housing build on the growing northern Gold Coast.
The 14 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom units in Pimpama will provide housing for seniors, young people, couples and people with a disability.
The development includes four units built to Gold standard and two units build to Platinum standard under Livable Housing Guidelines, making them accessible for people with a disability and older Queenslanders.

“These are homes for seniors, young people, couples and people with a disability. It’s also for people looking to downsize from their current place, which in turn frees it up for larger families.
“We’ve delivered 395 social housing homes on the Gold Coast, and we have many many more to come.
“These places are more than just walls and a roof – they’re a safe place for families, the opportunity to secure an education or a job for a young person, and freedom for a person with a disability.”

Mrs Fuller, a former registered nurse manager, and Noel, a former retail manager, have increasingly struggled to meet rising rent costs since significant health issues meant they had to sell their own home more than a decade ago.
Their new social housing unit at Pimpama is close to family, including daughter Fiona, and the medical support services they regularly access.
“Financially, this home makes a huge difference. It’s the difference between struggling with what necessities to buy each fortnight, and having money left over at the end of the fortnight.
“It’s safe – I can scoot around on my walker, there’s no steps, there’s safety rails where we need them and we can easily move between inside and outside. There’s an undercover patio, a garden for my plants and there’s plenty of room for our dog, Willow.
“We’re excited. We’ve got peace of mind, we’re able to move in and know it’s our forever home,” says Mrs Fuller.
