In just one year, more than 200,000 books, CDs and DVDs have been borrowed from Mitchell Shire Council’s libraries – with more than 30,000 visits in April and May this year alone.
Community members can access libraries in Broadford, Kilmore, Seymour and Wallan as well as the new pop-up library in Beveridge which also offers most library services.
The library service includes books, journals, newspapers, magazines, music, movies, tablets and laptops.
Collections are just part of the story. Libraries change lives every single day and are at the forefront of innovative development throughout Mitchell Shire.
They’re popular with the community too. Earlier this month, Council’s robotics classes were fully booked just a few hours after they were announced.
Libraries deliver essential services to residents, students and visitors, allowing people to use the internet, work on school projects and offer a safe space for people to relax.
Other programs include robotics classes, school holiday activities, baby bookworms, toddler read and rhyme and storytime. There is also a co-working space at Kilmore Library every Friday.
