More than a million dollars of cannabis found during vehicle stop at Cootamundra, NSW

A man will face court today after police allegedly seized over a million dollars worth of cannabis during a vehicle stop in the state’s south west yesterday.

About 12pm (Sunday 22 December 2019), officers from Riverina Police District stopped a Ford XR5 on Rosehill Road, Cootamundra for a random breath test.

The driver was submitted to a roadside breath test, returning a negative result. On further inspection, officers allegedly located four large duffel bags in the rear of the vehicle containing large quantities of cannabis.

The cannabis, which has an estimated potential street value of more than one million dollars, was seized alongside cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.

The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old Minto man, was taken to Cootamundra Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug and deal in proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 23 December 2019).

Inquiries are continuing.
