This year’s National Road Safety Week aims to highlight the impact of road trauma and how we can reduce it.

Road safety is not just the responsibility of law enforcement agencies. The community also need to take actions to ensure no more lives are lost.
On average, 43 people die and more than 500 people are seriously injured each year on Northern Territory (NT) roads.
This year, 25 people have already lost their lives in the Territory.
The Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services are committed to reducing road related trauma to NT road users.
Darwin and Road Policing Commander, Matthew Hollamby said, “Last December, was one of the Northern Territory’s most horrific months for fatal road crashes.
“Sadly, 12 people lost their lives including the triple fatal on Christmas Day.
“We’re encouraging the community to get behind National Road Safety Week and pledge to drive so others survive.”
