National University Teaching Awards recognise outstanding University of Newcastle educators

University of Newcastle

Two outstanding University of Newcastle academics have been nationally recognised for their outstanding contributions to student learning.

Established in 1997 by the Australian Government, the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) honour and recognise excellence in university teaching.

Dr Marie Hadley and Dr Meredith Tavener have been awarded Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, which recognise and reward the diversity of contributions made by individuals and teams to the quality of student learning in higher education.

A Citation is awarded to an individual or team who have made a significant contribution to the quality of student learning, in a specific area of responsibility over a sustained period.

Dr Marie Hadley was awarded the citation for enabling law students to bridge the gap between knowing the law and expressing that knowledge effectively through creative resources and an innovative Curricular Justice Model.

Senior Lecturer, School of Medicine and Public Health

Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning

Dr Meredith Tavener has received the citation for creative contributions to student learning in Health that embed qualitative research-integrated culture into curriculum design through authenticity of teaching and meaningful resources.
