The Queensland Police Service has announced the appointment of new assistant Commissioners for South Eastern and Southern police regions following an extensive recruitment process.
Assistant Commissioner Brian Swan will take up the role of Assistant Commissioner for South Eastern Region after the recent retirement of Assistant Commissioner Brian Wilkins.
Assistant Commissioner Swan is currently the Assistant Commissioner for Brisbane Region and was previously the District Officer for Logan District.
The region incorporates both Gold Coast and Logan policing districts.
Assistant Commissioner Charysse Pond has been appointed as the new Assistant Commissioner for Southern Region following the recent retirement of Assistant Commissioner Mike Condon.
Assistant Commissioner Pond currently leads the People Capability Command which includes the management of the Queensland Police Academy.
Southern Region incorporates the Ipswich, Darling Downs and South West policing districts.
Commissioner Katarina Carroll congratulated the officers on their appointments.
“Assistant Commissioner Swan is a highly regarded and experienced officer who has a lot to offer the South East region as it continues to respond to rapid population growth and the various challenges of a unique policing environment,” Commissioner Carroll said.
“Assistant Commissioner Pond will bring a wealth of experience and strategic direction to her new role, overseeing a significantly diverse area of the state spanning from Ipswich to the South Australian border.
“Both officers have made outstanding contributions to the QPS and I look forward to continuing working with them in their new roles within the QPS Executive Leadership Team.”
The assistant commissioners will take up their new positions in the coming weeks.
