New business hub to boost jobs and investment across the Barkly

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Tennant Creek’s October Business Month celebrations have begun with Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Education, Senator Anthony Chisholm officially opening the new Barkly Business Hub today.

The Assistant Minister toured the new Hub with members of the Barkly Regional Deal working group following the official opening.

The Barkly Business Hub’s interior fit-out includes modern office work stations, open meeting areas and conference room facilities, as well as other standard office features for business and community use.

A $2.2 million contribution from the Australian Government, through the Barkly Regional Deal, has made the Business Hub a reality and aims to deliver long-term economic growth in the Barkly region.

The multi-use facility will also provide access to tailored business advice and services to help local Indigenous organisations, and small businesses capitalise on commercial investment opportunities.

The facility’s opening marks an important milestone for Tennant Creek, as the Business Hub will help locals seize the many commercial investment opportunities that are expected to occur over the next 10 years, as other social infrastructure projects in the town continue to take shape.
