Families looking to enrol their children in three and four-year-old kindergarten in 2021 will be able to do so through a new online central enrolment system.

From 1 July this year, enrolment at seven local kindergartens will be coordinated by Central Goldfields Shire Council.

There are seven kindergartens located in Central Goldfields Shire and parents can register for kindergarten and indicate their preference via the centralised enrolment system.

The seven kindergartens are:

  • A.G. Leech Kindergarten
  • Back Creek Kinder (Talbot)
  • Californian Gully Kindergarten
  • Dunolly Kindergarten
  • Goldfields Family Centre
  • Paisley Park Early Learning Centre
  • T.L. Stone Memorial Kindergarten

Under the new system, families can lodge registration forms – including being able to list their kindergarten preferences – making it a simpler, more convenient process rather than submitting forms to each kindergarten individually.

Every effort will be made to grant parents first preference where possible.

The new enrolment system will be available at www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/centralenrolment from Monday 1 July to Monday 31 August and will take approximately five minutes to complete.

Families needing assistance with the process, or requiring a hard copy of the registration form, can visit the Goldfields Family Centre at 100 Napier Street, Maryborough.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it was wonderful to have the new system introduced to provide a much more equitable enrolment process for local families.

“We encourage families to do their own research by contacting local kindergartens to decide which option works best for their individual family.

“The new process will so much easier for families – it will save time and remove the need to complete multiple forms for multiple kindergartens in the hope of getting a place.

“Whilst every effort will be made to ensure families receive their first preference, the system ensures that all of our local children will receive a kindergarten place in 2021.

Parents are offered up to 15 hours a week for three and four-year-old children, which is subsidised by the Victorian Government.
