A new COVID-19 vaccination clinic opened today (November 15) in Ellenbrook, as part of the McGowan Government’s multipronged efforts to increase Western Australia’s vaccination rates and in the lead up to Leavers 2021.
The clinic is located at Shop G-033, Ellenbrook Central Shopping Centre, 11 Main Street, Ellenbrook and is open 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 9.30am to 7pm Thursday and 11am to 4.30pm Sunday, with capacity to vaccinate 500 people a day.
Young people planning to attend official school leavers celebrations in Dunsborough will need to present evidence of having had a COVID-19 vaccination to gain access to the events.
Leavers can show proof by uploading evidence of their vaccination on the Leavers WA Mobile app (https://www.leaverswa.com.au/Leavers/Leavers-WA-Mobile-App).
Any school leaver who has not yet been vaccinated is encouraged to do so before Leavers 2021 begins next Monday, November 22.
Police anticipate around 10,000 school leavers will attend celebrations in the South West this year.
A designated Leavers Entertainment Zone will once again be set up in Dunsborough to provide schoolies with a range of structured activities and entertainment throughout the week.
Additional police will be deployed to maximise the safety and security of school leavers.
Community vaccination clinics are now open at Canning Vale Market City, Carramar Village Shopping Centre, Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City, Centrepoint Midland Shopping Centre, Claremont Showgrounds, Kwinana Supa Centre, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Armadale Central Shopping Centre and The Square Mirrabooka and more, in addition to more than 100 regional locations across WA.
All Western Australians aged 12 years and over are urged to visit https://www.rollup.wa.gov.au to register and book their vaccination appointments as soon as possible. People can also drop into State-run clinics and get vaccinated without an appointment.
More than 82.1 per cent of Western Australians 12 and older have had a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 68.1 per cent have had two doses.
As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:
“I encourage any school leaver from the class of 2021 who is planning on hitting the road to Dunsborough for celebrations to do some important things first.
“Number one is: get vaccinated against COVID-19 – you won’t be able to attend the events without showing proof of this.
“The second, but equally important point, is to have a very good conversation with your parents or carers about how you can keep yourself safe during Leavers, whether this be on the road or while you are celebrating with mates.
“Make the most of this exciting time in your lives as you have earned it – but do it safely.”
As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:
“Every year, WA Health works with other agencies including WA Police Force and St John Ambulance on the combined effort to support school leavers at the official Leavers’ events in Dunsborough.
“Once again, WA Health is running an awareness campaign for school leavers – primarily through social media – about sexual health and safe sex.
“There will also be information and health advice available throughout Leavers at the official events.
“I, like the Premier, want our school leavers to be able to enjoy themselves – in a safe environment.”

“Leavers week is a great opportunity for young people to let their hair down and celebrate their schooling achievements.
“Police have been working with other agencies to ensure a safe environment with well organised activities and entertainment.
“We want people to enjoy themselves but we also want them to be safe. We want a week that is celebrated and remembered for the right reasons.
“I want to extend my thanks to Red Frogs WA and the hundreds of volunteers who each year do an amazing job ensuring a safe Leavers celebration.”
