New direct flights to Singapore, Bangkok and Phuket

  • Three new non-stop flights announced between Perth and Singapore, Bangkok, and Phuket
  • Jetstar announces new routes amid expansion of Western Australia’s aviation network to South East Asia
  • Jetstar will also establish Perth base of more than 60 pilots and four aircraft
  • New Singapore connection supported by the WA Government and Perth Airport

Western Australia’s reputation as the Western Gateway to Australia has been strengthened through the announcement of three new direct flights from South East Asia to Perth.

Jetstar will significantly expand its network in WA by adding non-stop flights between Singapore, Bangkok, and Phuket to Perth beginning in late-2024.

The airline will also bolster its presence in WA by opening a Perth base for more than 60 pilots and four aircraft, including the new Airbus A321neo LR, with additional routes to be confirmed in the coming months.

The additional flights from South East Asia include WA’s key international market of Singapore, providing an additional opportunity for travellers from this region to visit Perth.

Singapore is WA’s second biggest market for visitors with 83,000 travellers heading to our State in the year ending June 2023.

The new connection with Singapore is supported by the WA Government and will feed into Jetstar Asia’s extensive network of 13 destinations throughout Asia, allowing even more visitors to travel to Perth.

Jetstar also announced a new non-stop route between Sydney and Busselton Margaret River Airport last week, which will bring tens of thousands of out-of-state visitors to WA’s South West.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

“We’re very excited to see Jetstar investing in Perth with these three new direct flights to Singapore, Bangkok, and Phuket, creating even more opportunities for South East Asian travellers to come and visit our beautiful State.

“Creating local jobs has always been a priority of our Government, so we also really welcome the new Perth base that Jetstar will be establishing, which will support more than 60 pilots.

“This is a huge vote of confidence in the Western Gateway, and shows how popular and lucrative the tourism sector is in Western Australia, with visitors spending a massive $16.8 billion in the 2022-23 financial year.

“It’s fantastic to support another direct flight to our important market of Singapore, one of the biggest tourism markets for our State since we re-opened our borders last year and I am excited to see what additional routes come online when Jetstar’s Perth base is up and running.

“Direct flights form a really important part of our tourism strategy, as they bring more visitors into our State, inject valuable tourism dollars into our local economy and of course, support local jobs and businesses.”
