New visual arts exhibition Soundtracks has made its debut at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery.
The exhibition is a collective effort from Townsville-based printmakers as they explore the relationship between verbal and non-verbal imagery in their own albums, exploring personal narratives through playlists.
Artist and exhibition curator Donna Foley said the exhibition spanned a series of personal connections to music.
“Soundtracks is a personal approach for each artist to talk about the way songs, music or sounds influence the production of their work,” Ms Foley said.
“All of the works are prints, we’re all printmakers, and you’ll see a very good range of print types in the exhibition.”
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said Council was proud to support locally-created exhibitions like Soundtracks.
“Council is focused on developing a strong home-grown arts culture in Townsville, including through providing opportunities for local artists to exhibit across the city,” Cr Greaney said.
“I’m pleased to see Soundtracks calling Perc Tucker Regional Gallery home until early December and I commend the artists for their outstanding work.”
Perc Tucker Regional Gallery is a family friendly and accessible gallery space in the heart of Townsville’s city centre, with free entry from 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 1pm Saturday to Sunday.
