A new on-farm biosecurity check-in designed to protect Queensland agriculture from the spread of plant and animal pests and diseases might not be as effective as planned.
Landowners with frequent, trusted farm visitors may benefit from the system – which can be used with an online form or app and QR code – however AgForce is urging members to trial it first due to lack of mobile phone connectivity in rural areas that can prevent it from working.
Farm Check-In was developed by Biosecurity Queensland using a $397,000 Federal Government grant.
By scanning a QR code at the farm gate, visitors access an online checklist to help them understand their general biosecurity obligation and any potential risks.
