From where I stand is a new Living Arts Space exhibition celebrating award-winning local artist Lyn Raymer.
The free exhibition brings together Ms Raymer’s award-winning charcoal drawings that capture her unique studied observations of individuals in densely populated public spaces.
This unique body of work also explores the uncomfortable reality of the COVID-19 pandemic from the artist’s unique perspective including how COVID changed our interaction with public spaces.
Living Arts Space Curator Amy Carr-Bottomley said the collection of drawings were outstanding.
“Lyn Raymer’s incredible charcoal drawings are inspired by her unique observations of people and their interactions in public spaces,” Ms Carr-Bottomley said.
“These highly detailed charcoal drawings are created using a ‘reductive’ technique with Lyn using erasers to pull and push the figures and forms from darkened backgrounds. The implied movement and atmosphere invite the viewer to stand within these unique spheres to contemplate the juxtaposed perspectives.
“This is a stunning exhibition to immerse yourself in these beautiful drawings.
“Community members and visitors are invited to the exhibition’s free opening celebration from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday August 31 at the Living Arts Space.”
From where I stand is open until Sunday October 6 at the Living Arts Space located in the Bendigo Visitor Centre, 51-67 Pall Mall (9am to 4.30pm daily except Christmas Day).
