The newly popularly elected Mayor of Liverpool, Ned Mannoun, has reconfirmed his commitment to lead Liverpool City Council to deliver a more revitalised City of Liverpool over the next 100 days.
Mayor Mannoun on his official declaration as Mayor today walked the streets of Liverpool CBD meeting and personally thanking community members for their support.
“It is an absolute honour, and I can’t express how grateful and thankful I am that the people of Liverpool have given me this opportunity to come back and work for them,” Mayor Mannoun said.
“Work starts today on delivering on the 100-day plan which will see a revitalised Liverpool and include working to remove 30km/h speed zones, upgrading Kurrajong Road, cleaning the streets, constructing new swimming pools in Carnes Hill and Chipping Norton/Moorebank and introducing 500 new car parking spots.
“I’m committed to delivering a better City for the whole community, as well as improving the quality of life for the people of Liverpool and South West Sydney.
“Every decision we make in the next few months and years will be geared towards that – whether its new parks, boosting our local economy, upgrading recreational facilities, or ensuring clean streets.
“I also look forward to working with my fellow elected Councillors to progress Liverpool and provide more opportunities for an even brighter future.”
In 2012, Mr Mannoun became the youngest popularly elected and first ever Liberal Mayor in the Liverpool Local Government Area (LGA). From 2012 to 2016, Mr Mannoun progressed his positive vision for Liverpool during his first tenure as Mayor of Liverpool City Council and as Chair of the Building Our New City Committee which helped accelerate civic infrastructure to beautify the Liverpool CBD.
Mayor Mannoun was pivotal in promoting a higher education presence in Liverpool with the University of Western Sydney and University of Wollongong by establishing satellite campuses. Mayor Mannoun also oversaw the rollout of a wireless CCTV network and free, high-speed Wi-Fi in the heart of the City.
Mr Mannoun also served as the Deputy Mayor of Liverpool between 2010 and 2011.
Since 2016, Mr Mannoun has worked in the private sector in various roles and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Western Sydney in 2017.
