New performing and visual arts building at Aveley Secondary College officially opens

  • Stage 2 at Aveley Secondary College in Ellenbrook officially opens
  • Works including a performing and visual arts building, lecture theatre and student services facility were delivered under the Public Private Partnership
  • An additional $4.2 million second storey build to the College which added more classrooms also opens today 
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today officially unveiled the new arts facilities at Aveley Secondary College in Ellenbrook.

    The Stage 2 build includes a performing and visual arts building with media studios, green rooms, dance studios, studios for drawing, ceramics and print making, 23 general learning areas, lecture theatre, and a student services facility.

    There are also additional toilets, store rooms and parking. A Senior Engineering and Senior Construction Workshops were also outfitted to create opportunities for STEM.

    The first and second stage of construction works were delivered under the Public Private Partnership. The second stage included a $4.2 million expansion which added a second storey with additional classrooms.

    Aveley Secondary College opened in 2018 and includes an Education Support Hub with specialist facilities and staff for students with disability.

    The College has more than 1,000 students in Years 7 to 10.

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    “I’m pleased we can meet the growing demand from the community by building and expanding public schools with high-quality facilities.

    “Aveley Secondary College has a focus on dance, drama, music and the visual arts and media so staff and students will benefit greatly from these modern new learning areas.”

    As stated by Swan Hills MLA Jessica Shaw:

    “The new arts buildings and senior learning spaces further add to exceptional facilities at the College.

    “Aveley Secondary College is a school that is equipped to serve the needs of a wide range of students.”
