Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today officially opened the new science area at Greenwood College.
The $2.5 million upgrade includes refurbishment of the school’s science classrooms and laboratory areas.
The modernisation of the existing science facilities is expected to boost learning opportunities and support the increased number of Year 11 and 12 students studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.
Access to the facilities was also upgraded with the installation of universal access pathways and a lift.
The project is the first upgrade of the science facilities since the school was built in 1976.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“These modern facilities provide the space for students to study STEM subjects with access to state-of-the-art technology.
“The McGowan Government is committed to providing upgrades at Western Australian public schools so students now and in the future have every opportunity to thrive.”
As stated by Kingsley MLA Jessica Stojkovski:
“It’s fantastic to see this project completed – I’m sure students and staff are thrilled that the new facilities are officially open.
“The high-quality science classrooms and laboratory areas will offer exciting new learning opportunities and no doubt play a role in equipping more Greenwood College students with STEM skills and a passion for science.”
