Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker welcomed nine trainees and apprentices at the Moranbah Community Centre this week. The fresh faces are from different walks of life and will begin their new roles across the Isaac region.
Mayor Baker said that Isaac is a region rich in resources, made richer by its people, their hopes and their dreams. “Here’s an opportunity for our trainees and apprentices to help shape communities and positively impact lives by working in local government,” she said. “We’re everyday people doing amazing things.”
The program is part of creating career paths for those looking to expand their horizons in local government.
CEO Jeff Stewart-Harris said it also enables the possibility of them reaching their goals and bolstering succession planning. “We have the opportunity to teach and mould our trainees and apprentices into exactly what we require so they become an integrated part of our organisation culture,” he said.
The following trainees and apprentices started their new roles at Council this week:

- Apprentice electrician Scott Spark
- Civil construction plant operations apprentice Jacob White
- Contracts and procurement trainee Terrie-Sue Holden
- Apprentice plumber Angus Smith
- Business services trainee Brianna Purdy-Payne
- Saleyards and Showgrounds trainee Kimberley Armstrong
- Community engagement, programs and events administration trainee Hannah Scanlan
