The program includes new footpaths to be constructed at the following locations:

  • McCoombe Street, Mooroobool – from Moignard Street to Smallwood Street
  • McCoombe Street, Westcourt – from Mulgrave Road to Givens Street
  • Givens Street, Westcourt – from McCoombe to Tills Street
  • Pease Street, Edge Hill – from Richardson Street to Saltwater Creek
  • Mount Peter Road, Edmonton
  • Grove Street, Cairns North – from existing on Wilkinson Street to Martyn St (Lily Creek Path)
  • Greenslopes Street, Edge Hill
  • Veivers Road, Palm Cove – from Captain Cook Highway to Oliva Street
  • Wattle Street, Yorkeys Knob – from district sports park to Esplanade

As part of the 2025-26 Active Travel budget, $2 million has been allocated in a new pilot called the Neighbourhood Pathways Program, which will open for consultation later this month.

The community can identify small-scale pathway related projects they believe will enhance the quality of life in their neighbourhood – connecting people with people.
