Adelaide is set to roar to life in just nine day’s time for the VAILO Adelaide 500, with this year’s race set to feature a new generation of cars on the street circuit and a new generation of jet overhead.

For the first time, the Adelaide 500 will feature flyovers from the RAAF’s F-35A Lightning II – the Australian Defence Force’s fifth-generation supersonic, stealth fighter.

The flyovers will take place half an hour before the Supercars races on Saturday and Sunday, which are set to decide the outcome of the Repco Supercars Championship.

Premier Peter Malinauskas today announced the flyovers with Championship leader Brodie Kostecki, who holds a narrow lead over rival Shane van Gisbergen as they head into the Championship’s final round.

The State Government and VAILO Adelaide 500 event will once again provide free public transport to VAILO Adelaide ticket holders on all Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services throughout the four-day event.

Those aged 12 and under will receive free entry with a paying adult to the track and won’t need to show their ticket.

Additional bus, train and tram services, including O-Bahn services will operate throughout the event, including post the After Race Concerts.

Thanks to HomeStart, those attending the race can take advantage of a free VAILO Adelaide 500 Shuttle servicing a CBD route of over increased 17 stops to key gates around the circuit, then looping to the Adelaide Railway Station.

The shuttle will operate from approximately 8.30am to 7pm on Thursday, and approximately 8am to midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Government’s decision to reinstate the Adelaide 500 delivered significant dividends in 2022, with more than 258,000 fans in attendance, delivering a record economic benefit of $51.85 million.

The VAILO Adelaide 500 is Australia’s largest domestic ticketed motorsport event with four-day and single day covered grandstand tickets, as well as general admission options available, starting from $29.

Children aged 12 and under are free in General Admission areas with a paying adult.
