Next stage of improvements at Little Bridge Street

Further improvements to Little Bridge Street are progressing, with the City of Ballarat now seeking feedback on concept plans that seeks to improve the amenity and experience for all users of this space.

Complimenting the current redevelopment of Bridge Mall, the concept plans have now been published for the community to view and provide feedback on.

Key elements of the upgrades include moving the pedestrian walkway across Little Bridge Street to line up and connect with the Time Lane entrance into the shopping precinct.

Further features of the new designs include:

  • Reducing Little Bridge Street to a single lane to provide reversing space.
  • Addition of outdoor dining area.
  • Shared user paths for bikes and pedestrians.
  • New streetscape plantings.
  • Upgrades to CCTV, lighting and bollards.
  • Dedicated single lane for buses.

The project aims to increase the appeal and safety for public transport users by providing better infrastructure for those waiting for buses, strengthening pedestrian connections through the area and making Little Bridge Street a welcoming entrance to Ballarat.

The community now has the chance to let the City of Ballarat know how Little Bridge Street is used by them and what could be improved in the designs.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson said this project is addressing requests from traders, community members and public transport users for action in the area.

“We invite those who use the area, buses, carparks or work in the area to view the designs and let us know what you think,” he said.

The Little Bridge Street concept plans will be open for feedback until Thursday 8 February 2024.

The concept plans can be viewed at the Bridge Mall redevelopment shop located in Coliseum Walk or online at www.mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au
