Elite action BMX, skate and scooter sport is coming to Queensland with the Nitro World Games at Suncorp Stadium this October.

One of the first major events to release tickets for sale this year, the Nitro World Games is being held outside of the USA for the first time and is already seeing avid fans lock in two-day passes from across the country.

Tourism and Sport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the Nitro World Games would bring more than 60 competitors and thousands of spectators to Brisbane.

“Nitro World Games at Suncorp Stadium is predicted to deliver more that $20 million to Queensland’s tourism economy, attracting up to 76,000 visitor nights,” Mr Hinchliffe said.

“That’s a spectacular and welcome boost for accommodation and transport providers, cafes, restaurants and local tourism businesses.

“Nitro world Games is a destination event that will bring visitors to South East Queensland and support local jobs for Queensland’s economic recovery.

“The hard work of Queenslanders on COVID-19 means we’re able to enjoy safe, elite action events like the World Nitro Games.

“It’s another event coup for Queensland after last year becoming Australia’s sporting capital. “With big-name Australian Freestyle motocross, BMX trick, skate and scooter athletes taking on the champion skills of some of the world’s best, it’s no surprise Nitro World Games has a global reputation for thrills and spectacle.

“Nitro is a significant highlight to circle on Brisbane’s 2021 events calendar.”

President of Asia Pacific for Thrill One Sports & Entertainment Andy Edwards said with all the heartache and disruption of last year, it feels especially good for the countdown to the first ever Nitro World Games outside of the USA to now have officially started.

“Pre-sale ticket demand last week has been truly unprecedented which just makes the prospect of staging this unique event in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium of screaming fans all the more exciting,” Mr Edwards said.

Nitro World Games is the next evolution of action sports competition, with the world’s top athletes in Freestyle Motocross, BMX, Skateboarding and Scooter set to compete.

The games will run from 23-24 October, 2021 at Suncorp Stadium.

Tickets are being released for sale to the general public from 10am Sunday 7 February 2021 at: www.nitroworldgames.com.
