Nominations for 2022 Australia Day Awards now open

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne is encouraging residents to nominate someone they feel has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
“This year has been a tough year, as we navigate the social, economic and health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mayor Byrne said.
“Despite these challenges, many in our community have continued to share their time, effort and money with those who need that extra helping hand.
“Now is the time to recognise these special people and groups who have been a shining beacon of hope and made a real difference to the lives of others in The Hills Shire and beyond,” Mayor Byrne added.
The 2022 Australia Day categories are:
  • Citizen of the Year (25-65 years)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (24 and under)
  • Senior Citizen of the Year (over 65 years)
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Environmental Citizen of the Year
Nominees must be residents of the Hills Shire Local Government Area (LGA) and must have made a significant contribution for the benefit of The Hills Shire community within 2021.
Finalists will be announced in the lead-up to Australia Day 2022.
