Nominations open for top NSW wine industry award

Nominations are open to acknowledge an individual’s outstanding contribution to the NSW wine industry for the prestigious Graham Gregory Award.

NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Group Director Plant Systems Dr Alison Bowman said the Graham Gregory Award recognises people who are advancing the NSW wine industry.

“The award celebrates the recognition by peers for outstanding contributions to the NSW wine industry made by a winegrape grower, wine maker, marketer, researcher, educator or industry advocate,” Dr Bowman said.

“Individuals involved in any field in the NSW wine industry are encouraged to nominate for this prestigious award or, alternatively, nominate a colleague who deserves the title.”

Named after NSW wine industry pioneer and former NSW Agriculture Deputy Director General Graham Gregory, the award celebrates the NSW wine industry and the people who contribute to its success.

The 2019 Graham Gregory Award winner, Justin Jarrett owner of See Saw Wine, Orange received the award in recognition of his 25-year history of quality wine making.

Dr Bowman said Mr Jarrett’s strong leadership attributes and his contribution to research and development, particularly in the field of organic wine production, have assisted the growth of the NSW wine industry.

“Through his involvement we have seen the improved use of drones, robotics and mechanical equipment to manage vineyards,” she said.

This is a retrospective award recognising outstanding contribution from the previous year. The award will be presented at the annual NSW Wine Awards, to be held in Sydney on 10 December 2021.

Nominations for the 2020 Graham Gregory Award close on Monday 29 November 2021.
