Not getting message in Brunswick

Police in Brunswick were kept busy after 38 traffic offences were detected in four hours today as part of Operation Argus.

Officers were conducting patrols in the Sydney Road area when they detected 28 people using their mobile phone while driving between 8am and 12pm.

Each person detected will receive a $496 fine and four demerit points.

The other offences included three unlicensed drivers, three people failing to wear seatbelts, one unaccompanied learner driver and three people disobeying traffic signs.

This intercepts are a part of the Operation Argus, which focuses on impaired driving, motorcycles, excessive speed, driver distraction and not wearing seatbelts.

The state-wide operation will run for four days from 12.01am, Thursday 5 September to 11.59pm, Sunday 8 September.
