NSW latest coronavirus data as at 9 May

As at 8pm Friday 8 May 2020, five additional cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed since 8pm 7 May, bringing the total to 3,051.

During that time, 13,692 people were tested, compared to 9,461 people in the 24 hours before. This is the highest number of tests undertaken in a 24-hour period in NSW to date.

NSW Health would like to thank those with symptoms for coming forward, getting tested and ensuring as many cases in the community are identified as quickly as possible.

One case previously reported in the NSW totals has now been excluded after further testing, reflecting the adjusted overall total of 3,051 confirmed cases.

There have been no new deaths in the reporting period.

There have been no new cases at Anglicare Newmarch House. There is a total of 69 cases linked to Newmarch House, including 32 staff and 37 residents. Altogether 24 residents and 101 staff were tested for COVID-19 on 7 May 2020.

There are currently 110 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. This includes eight people being treated in Intensive Care Units, with seven of those requiring ventilators.

There are now 2,504 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in NSW.

NSW Health is urging people with symptoms, including mild symptoms, to be tested to ensure as many cases of COVID-19 in the community are as identified as quickly as possible.

This is particularly important in several new areas following a locally acquired case. These include Blacktown, Canada Bay, Cumberland, Inner West, Liverpool, Parramatta and Penrith Local Government Areas.
