NSW police appeal after man stabbed after break and enter at Tamworth

Police are appealing for public information after a man was stabbed during a break and enter at a home in Tamworth overnight.

About 12.10am today (Wednesday 17 November 2021), emergency services were called to a home at Bowdens Lane, Tamworth, following reports of a break and enter and stabbing.

Police were told a group of males entered the home, before stabbing the occupant and stealing personal items.

The group were last seen fleeing the home in a stolen VW Polo, which was later found partially burnt out at Coledale.

Upon arrival, officers attached to Oxley Police District located a 51-year-old man with a stab wound to his abdomen and injuries to his hands.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Tamworth Base Hospital in a stable condition.

A 13-year-old boy was located hiding inside the Bowdens Lane home and arrested. He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and is currently assisting police with inquiries.

A crime scene has been established and several items were seized for forensic examination.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information, or dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.
