NSW police appeal following suspicious fire

Police are appealing for public assistance following a suspicious house fire in western Sydney.

About 1.30am today (Tuesday 1 January 2019), emergency services were called to a home on Zarlee Street, Fairfield, where they found a home alight.

A 56-year-old woman exited the home with the assistance of neighbours.

The fire was extinguished; however, the house and a car sustained significant damage.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The woman was taken to Fairfield Hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties, however has since been released.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward.
