NSW police arrest teen after stabbing

A teenage boy has been arrested over an alleged stabbing in Sydney’s south west today.

About 6.50am (Sunday 20 February 2022), emergency services were called to Canley Vale Road, Canley Heights, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and found two 17-year-old boys with stab wounds.

Police were told the teenagers were walking on Canley Vale Road when two males exited a black Toyota Celica and allegedly stabbed and assaulted the boys before fleeing in the Toyota.

Both teenagers were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital.

One of the boys remains in hospital in a serious condition with head, back and internal injuries. The other has since been released.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, about 12pm today (Sunday 20 February 2022), a 17-year-old boy was arrested at a home in Bossley Park.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station, where he is assisting police with their inquiries.

After further investigations, officers located and seized a black Toyota Celica outside a unit block on Charles Street, Liverpool, about 2pm (Sunday 20 February 2022).

As inquiries continue, police have released a description of a male they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation.

The male is described as being aged in his late teens, about 180cm tall, with a ‘mullet-style’ haircut and a goatee beard. He was wearing a grey hoodie with a small black logo on the chest, grey shorts and light-coloured sneakers.
