A woman has been charged with seven offences including drink and drug driving following a serious crash near Queanbeyan earlier this year.
About 10pm on Saturday 9 January 2021, a black Toyota Hilux was travelling north on Captains Flat Road, Primrose Valley, about 30km south-east of Queanbeyan, when it left the road, crashed into a guard rail and rolled.
The driver, a 27-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.
Her front seat passenger, a 29-year-old woman, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered leg and internal injuries.
They were both taken to Canberra Hospital where the passenger had her leg amputated. She remains in hospital receiving treatment.
The driver underwent mandatory testing.
A second passenger, a 37-year-old man, did not require treatment at the scene but later attended the same hospital with rib fractures.
Following inquiries, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit arrested the driver, a now 28-year-old woman, at a home in Rossi just before 9.30am today (Monday 14 June 2021).
She was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm-drive under the influence, cause bodily harm by wilful neglect in charge of motor vehicle, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), drive with middle range PCA, alter concentration alcohol in blood before sampled, and drive vehicle with illicit drug present in blood.
The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday 12 July 2021.
