NSW police charge man after aggravated robbery

A man has been charged following an alleged aggravated robbery in Sydney’s west earlier this year.

About 8.45am on Friday 19 August 2022, a 54-year-old man left a hotel on Mount Druitt Road, Mt Druitt, and placed a bag – containing cash – into his vehicle, before he was allegedly approached and threatened by two unknown men.

One of the men allegedly assaulted the 54-year-old before the pair fled on foot with the bag, towards a vehicle that was parked nearby.

The man was taken to hospital and treated for facial injuries.

Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, and a public appeal, a 36-year-old man was arrested during a vehicle stop on the M1 at Wyong about 5.45am today (Tuesday 18 October 2022).

He was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with robbery in company cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.

The Blue Haven man was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court later today, where he was formally bail refused to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday 7 December 2022.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
