Detectives have charged a man following an investigation into a shooting at Lakemba last month, where another man was assaulted and shot five times.
Just after 8.15pm on Monday 31 August 2020, emergency services were called to a home at Garrong Road, Lakemba, followings reports a man had been injured.
Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended and a found a 29-year-old man suffering five gunshot wounds to his leg and abdomen.
The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to St George Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was later released.
A crime scene was established at the home, which was forensically examined by specialist officers.
Earlier this month, a 23-year-old man was arrested at Bankstown during Operation Clampdown – a high-impact police operation conducted across the South West Metropolitan Region.
The man was charged over his alleged role in the Lakemba shooting and remains before the courts.
Detectives from Campsie Police Area Command, together with detectives from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad, established Strike Force Lissa to further investigate the incident.
Following extensive investigations, a 22-year-old man was arrested near Chapel Road at Bankstown, just before 10am today (Thursday 24 September 2020).
The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with shoot at with intent to murder, possess unregistered firearm in public place and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
