NSW police charge man after serious assault of woman at Bankstown

A man has been charged with reckless wounding after he allegedly assaulted a woman in Chester Hill last month.

Just before 6pm on Monday 22 July 2019, a 38-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were walking on St Paul’s Place, Chester Hill when they were confronted by four people in a vehicle, three women and a man.

The 38-year-old woman ran toward Gurney Road, Chester Hill and was chased by one of the women who was armed with a baseball bat and the man.

She was allegedly struck several times with the bat and kicked by the three women and man.

She was also allegedly stabbed and suffered a 3-4cm wound to the right ribcage, a lacerated liver and right rib fractures.

Detectives from Bankstown Police Area Command commenced investigations.

About 8.10pm yesterday (Thursday 29 August 2019), a 35-year-old man was arrested on Harris Street, Parramatta and taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with reckless wounding in company. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today Friday (30 August 2019).

Investigations into the whereabouts of three women who may assist with inquiries are continuing.
