NSW police charge man after serious assault

A man has been charged to face court next month after a serious assault in Circular Quay over the weekend.

Just before 3.30am on Saturday 29 May 2022, an 18-year-old man was walking with friends along the waterfront, outside a museum at Circular Quay, when he was approached by an unknown man.

The pair became involved in an altercation before they were separated by onlookers.

A short time later, the 18-year-old attended the Rocks Police Station with serious facial injuries.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with multiple facial fractures.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command commenced inquiries and a crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Following investigations, including a public appeal for information, a 20-year-old man attended St Marys Police Station about 5.30pm today (Monday 30 May 2022).

The Rouse Hill man was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm.

He was given strict conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 22 June 2022.
