NSW police charge man after threats made to police at Albury

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening police in the state’s Murray River region this week.

About 12.15pm on Tuesday (8 February 2022), officers attached to Murray River Police District’s Crime Prevention Team attended a unit on Hovell Street, Albury and spoke to the occupant, a 43-year-old man.

The man became aggressive towards officers and allegedly verbally threatened them as they were leaving.

Shortly after, the man called Albury Police Station and again allegedly threatened staff.

Following inquiries, officers – with the assistance from the South East Region Enforcement Squad and the Southern Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offenders Team (SRDVHROT) – attended the unit on Hovell Street, Albury, about 1.30pm yesterday (Thursday 10 February 2022), and arrested the 43-year-old man.

He was taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with use carriage service to menace/harass/offend, two counts of intimidate police officer in execution of duty, and breach of bail.

The Albury man was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today (Friday 11 February 2022).
