NSW police charge man over arson and fraud at Auburn

A man has been charged following a fire at an Auburn industrial complex in earlier the year.

About 6.30pm on Monday 22 April 2019, emergency services responded to reports of a fire in the unit of a warehouse on Adderley Street.

The fire completely destroyed the warehouse unit, causing $2.5 million worth of damage.

A strike force was established by Auburn Detectives to investigate the fire.

Following extensive investigations, officers uncovered alleged suspicious activity by the owner of the business occupying the unit in the period leading up to the fire.

At 9am on Thursday (15 August 2019), the 27-year-old owner was arrested at Auburn Police Station.

He was charged with dishonestly damage property by fire.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Friday 16 August 2019.
