NSW police charge man over prescription fraud across Sydney

A man will appear in court today charged following an investigation into alleged prescription fraud across Sydney.

In February 2020, officers from North Shore Police Area Command and Kuring Gai Police Area Command commenced a joint investigation after reports of fraudulent prescriptions being used at a pharmacy in St Leonards.

Following inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested during a vehicle stop on Dorset Drive, North Epping, about 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 9 June 2020).

He was taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with use false document to obtain property (x25), utter prescription which includes prohibited drug, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (x2) and possess forged prescription.

Police will allege in court that the man altered documents to obtain prescription medication at various pharmacies across Sydney between 2018 and 2020.

The Ryde man was refused bail and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Wednesday 10 June 2020).
